Science Standards: Idaho Content
Please note that as of the 2013-2014 school year, the CCSS ELA/Literacy standards, in addition to the current Idaho Standards for Science, need to be incorporated into new alignments of curricular material or in instructional design.

Reasons to integrate science:
1.       This is where students will have access to domain specific vocabulary.
2.       The SBAC Performance tasks ask students to pull science content through the ELA standards.
3.       Hands-on science is engaging.
4.       Non-fiction texts give interesting perspective to the hands-on piece and broaden student horizons.
5.       It scaffolds kids into the abstract science concepts presented in Middle and High School and provides background experience and knowledge

6.       STEM (Science/Tech/Engineering/Math) are important 21st century disciplines.
