Social Studies: Idaho Content
Please note that as of the 2013-2014 school year, the CCSS ELA/Literacy standards, in addition to the current Idaho Standards for Social Studies, need to be incorporated into new alignments of curricular material or in instructional design.

Reasons to integrate social studies:
1.       This is where students will have access to domain specific vocabulary.
2.       The SBAC Performance tasks ask students to pull social content through the ELA standards.
3.        Social Studies/History offers engaging and rigorous content for students to read and write about.
4.       Non-fiction complex texts (including primary and secondary sources) provide multiple perspectives for historic events.
5.       It scaffolds kids into the themes and concepts presented in Middle and High School and provides background experience and knowledge
